Training Tip Of The Week - Ahp Cha Nut Gi - Using the "Huri"

Using the photos taken at a recent Ko Dan Ja training session with our Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang, he displays the proper contraction and expansion when performing an Ahp Cha Nut Gi (Front Kick). Notice in the sequence that he starts the contraction, then extends the leg forward, and most importantly retracts the leg to the same position. Start your movement with an inhale, exhale when you expand or extend your leg into the kick, inhale again when you retract your leg back to the preparatory position. Another tip to work on is to pivot on the standing leg when you extend the leg, this allows your "huri" to open when you extend and close when you retract.

Soo Bahk Do® and Character Education - The Connection!

Soo Bahk Do® and Character Education - The Connection!
Through the use of Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan® training, children are guided through the various facets of "Character Education" that are taught through the use of the "Eight Key Concepts©", our "Five Moo Do Values©" and many other aspects of the Moo Duk Kwan® Philosophy. Basic to any character education, it concentrates on teaching children how to successfully meet life's challenges, by learning about responsibility, ethical behavior, developing and understanding trust, being respectful or learning about citizenship; it is this basic instruction that every Certified Soo Bahk Do® instructor teaches everyday!
